Lizzy Caplan and her husband Tom Riley first met each other in 2015. They had met in London, where Caplan was filming Allied.
Riley revealed in an interview with This Morning, that he had seriously injured one of his eyes, early in their dating history. Prior to one of their dates, Riley had arrived at Caplan’s Los Angeles house and wanting to have good breath, took a Listerine from his car’s glovebox. He then gargled it and spat it on the roadside. Unfortunately, a cactus was on his spitting path, and as a result, a needle flew and hit his eye. Riley tried to act as if nothing bad happened with Caplan, but his pupil started leaking. He then visited a doctor who concluded that he needed four operations, each costing $5000 to treat the injury.
Caplan and Riley then made their first public appearance at 2016’s Prague Opera Ball. The couple got engaged several months after the event.
They married one year later on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Four years after tying the knot, they welcomed a son named Alfie.
In a 2023 People interview, Caplan noted that Riley and Alfie were the “most important” parts of her life.
