Warwick Davis, who won the BAFTA Fellowship Award, which is one of the highest honors in BAFTA history, recently took to the stage to deliver a speech. It had humorous parts that made the audience chuckle. However, the speech also had an emotional part that remembered Warwick Davis’ late wife Samantha, who had passed away last year.

Taking to the stage after being presented his BAFTA Fellowship Award by Tom Felton, the Willow star thanked everyone and said that getting the award was the best thing that happened to him.
“And I’ve been in Star Wars,” Warwick Davis added, prompting a laugh from the audience. The 55-year-old actor, who promised to keep his speech short, first thanked his mother, whom he called “his very first agent.” He then thanked his team, his agents, and all who supported him.
Davis then dedicated his award to his late wife, Samantha. He said that she was “so supportive” of his career and often encouraged him to pursue roles. Davis jokingly stated that his wife’s “level and enthusiasm” for his role directly corresponded to her desire for a “new designer handbag.”

Warwick Davis then opened up about how “life has been pretty tough” for him following Samantha’s passing. Albeit, he acknowledged that he was able to continue working and living thanks to the support of their two children, Annabelle and Harrison. The two were also in attendance and his daughter teared up upon hearing this.
Additionally, Davis gave a special shoutout to a person named “Sponge,” and thanked them for showing him how life still had meaning and for teaching him how “to laugh and love again.” Getting emotional remembering his wife, Davis also briefly broke down during his speech before composing himself.
The Harry Potter actor then concluded his speech by encouraging those who had dreams to tell stories and create meaningful things to pursue them. “The world needs your vision,” he added. Furthermore, Warwick Davis reminded the audience to remember him if they needed help executing their vision.
