A theory about Thanos‘s return in Squid Game Season 3 has left the internet divided. South Korean rapper and actor, T.O.P, portrays the character, who, since its introduction in Season 2, has become a fan-favorite. Before joining the game, he was on the verge of giving up on life after being burdened by massive debts. However, he is saved, when an offer to earn money through the perilous game emerges. Like many before him, the game did not spare him, leading to his brutal demise. However, fans believe he could potentially join the Season 3 cast. Here’s how:
Is Thanos returning in Squid Game Season 3?
The theory suggests that Thanos could return to the perilous game via hallucinations. However, the actor hasn’t confirmed about being back in Season 3.
Thanos, aka, player 230, faced a brutal fate at the hands of Lee Myung-gi (player 333). Earlier, he had forged a strong alliance and friendship with Nam Gyu, with whom he shared a similar experience involving the infamous Dalmatian cryptocurrency scam. This scam left both of them with massive debts, ultimately leading them to join Squid Game.
Since Nam Gyu was nearby when Thanos died, there is a chance he might have taken possession of Thanos’s drugs. He might leverage them to tackle a distressing situation during the game. However, a drug overdose might cause him to hallucinate. In this state, he might start seeing or hearing Thanos, which could potentially affect him, leading him to do awful deeds in the game.
For the unversed, Thanos was engaged in a fight between those who wanted to continue playing and those who wanted to leave. During this, he was brutally stabbed in the neck by Myung-gi. He died on the spot, leaving Nam Gyu completely devastated. Now, the only plausible way to bring back Thanos’s character is through Nam Gyu’s hallucinations. While the theory has gone viral, T.O.P hasn’t confirmed his rumored appearance in Season 3.
