Taylor Swift Asked Lorne Micheals To Cut SNL Sketch in 2015 — Report

A recent report has revealed that Taylor Swift once attempted to have an SNL sketch about her celebrity “girl squad” pulled from the show. The singer allegedly reached out to creator Lorne Michaels, requesting that the segment not air. However, Michaels reportedly refused. The alleged exchange between them has been drawing attention.

Here are more details about why Swift asked Lorne Michaels to cut the SNL sketch.

In 2015, Saturday Night Live (SNL) planned a sketch poking fun at Taylor Swift’s famous “girl squad,” a group of high-profile celebrities who appeared in her “Bad Blood” music video. The video famously featured a star-studded lineup, including Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Lena Dunham, and Selena Gomez. The skit exaggerated the influence of the squad, portraying it as a powerful post-apocalyptic force. However, Swift was reportedly not on board with the idea.

According to Vulture, SNL creator Lorne Michaels personally invited Swift to make a cameo in the sketch. She not only turned down the offer but also requested that the segment be scrapped entirely. During their conversation, Michaels listened to her concerns but ultimately dismissed her request. While casually eating popcorn, he reportedly replied, “Taylor, I do not negotiate with terrorists.”

Despite Swift’s request, SNL aired two sketches based on her squad. One followed Aidy Bryant and Vanessa Bayer as characters navigating a post-apocalyptic world ruled by Swift and her group. Meanwhile, another sketch, Tina & Amy’s Dope Squad, featured Tina Fey and Amy Poehler assembling their own team, including Amy Schumer and Gayle King.

Although Swift tried to prevent the segment from airing, her response afterward suggested she had made peace with it. According to the report by Vulture, the following Monday, Michaels received a bouquet of flowers from the singer, along with a note reading, “I hope there’s no bad blood.”
