Why Is ‘Ryan Reynolds Fired From Disney’ Trending?

Curious why ‘Ryan Reynolds fired from Disney’ is trending? The Deadpool star is at the center of speculation due to his legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Accusations that Reynolds mocked Baldoni in Deadpool & Wolverine have sparked controversy and fueled rumors about his future with Disney and Marvel.

Let’s break down why ‘Ryan Reynolds fired from Disney’ is trending and what’s really happening behind the headlines.

Is Ryan Reynolds fired from Disney or Marvel’s Deadpool?

Ryan Reynolds has not been fired from Disney or Marvel’s Deadpool role, but speculation has arisen due to his legal conflict with Justin Baldoni.

Baldoni has accused Disney and Marvel of mocking him through the Deadpool & Wolverine character “Nicepool,” played by Reynolds. Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, sent a letter to Disney CEO Bob Iger and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. The letter demands the preservation of all documents related to the character. TMZ reported on January 14, 2025, that Baldoni believes Reynolds used the character to ridicule him. This stems from allegations made by Blake Lively.

In the July 2024 film, Nicepool says, “Where in God’s name is the intimacy coordinator?!” He also praises Lively’s Ladypool for “snapping back” after childbirth. Baldoni’s legal team claims these lines mirror Lively’s accusations that he fat-shamed her postpartum and engaged in workplace misconduct during It Ends with Us. Baldoni, a known advocate for feminist values, lost the Voices of Solidarity Award in December 2024 after these allegations.

Freedman’s letter demands Disney and Marvel keep “all documents relating to or reflecting a deliberate attempt to mock, harass, ridicule, intimidate, or bully Baldoni through the character of ‘Nicepool.’” It also hints at potential legal claims like interference with contracts and civil extortion. Reynolds, a writer, producer, and star of Deadpool & Wolverine, is reportedly supporting his wife amid the controversy.

Baldoni’s legal battle with Lively escalated when he filed a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times on December 31, 2024. He claimed Lively sought to undermine his role in It Ends with Us.
