Taylor Swift’s close friends, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, were noticeably absent from Super Bowl 2025. Fans had anticipated a reunion of Swift and her close-knit squad at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9. However, the power couple opted not to attend the mega event amid the ongoing lawsuit saga.
Blake Lively skips Super Bowl 2025
Blake Lively is currently entangled in a legal battle with It Ends With Us star Justin Baldoni. Amid the escalating situation, fans speculate that Lively and Reynolds may have skipped the Super Bowl to avoid public attention.
Taylor Swift has also been drawn into the discourse surrounding Lively’s lawsuit. The Con Man star’s legal representative recently suggested that Swift could be deposed in the case. Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, stated: “I don’t know that we’re going to depose Taylor Swift. I think that that’s going to be a game-time decision. I don’t know that that decision has been made” (via Page Six).
For context, Justin Baldoni allegedly leaked a series of text messages from the Gossip Girl star, in which she reportedly wrote: “If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons.”
Many speculated that Lively was referring to Swift and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, as her “dragons.”
While Swift has not publicly addressed the alleged leaked texts, a source close to the All Too Well singer stated that she “doesn’t appreciate being referred to as one of Blake’s dragons.” According to Page Six, the source added:
“Taylor really wishes Blake hadn’t dragged her into this whole situation.”
Despite this, Swift’s fans remain hopeful that her friendship with Lively will endure. The duo has shared a close bond for over a decade, with Lively and Reynolds frequently attending Swift’s Fourth of July house parties.
The Deadpool star and his wife also joined Swift to cheer for the Kansas City Chiefs on October 1, 2023. Additionally, Lively was present at the 2024 Super Bowl to support the team.
