Want to know whether Serena Williams and Drake have a past relationship history? Williams has recently been drawn into the growing beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. During the Super Bowl halftime show, she grooved to Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” the hit diss track aimed at Drake. The performance drew much attention, leading many to question whether Williams and Drake dated. So, here are all the details.
Were Serena Williams and Drake in a relationship?
Yes, Serena Williams and Drake have reportedly dated in the past.
Drake and Williams were romantically linked in 2011 when the former frequently appeared at the latter’s matches to support her. The romance rumors further solidified when Drake shared a cheeky tweet on X (formerly Twitter). It read,” @serenawilliams I cannot wait to put it on you and make you sweat……….during our match this weekend.”
While the rumors calmed down for a few years, they reignited again in 2015, when the duo were reportedly seen hanging out and sharing cozy moments.
Recently, the “God’s Plan” rapper revealed in archival studio footage that the song “Too Good,” featuring Rihanna, was about Williams. He exactly quoted “I get heavy on a couple of joints, but this is more about me and Serena. It’s funny because when I make songs about women, I also make songs for them. So, I know what kind of song to make.”
He wanted to ensure that if he made music about women, it better be something that they liked. Moreover, he knew Williams would listen to his music and hold no grudges against him. “So, I know Serena very well and I know that she’ll hear it loud and clear. But she’ll also not hate me for it because it’s lighthearted,” he explained.
Williams is currently married to Alexis Ohanian and shares two children with him.
