Kate Cassidy was present with him while he was vacationing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was staying at the CasaSur hotel in October 2024. However, she flew back home to Florida before the unfortunate incident with the singer happened.
While discussing this with with The Sun, Cassidy said, “I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility. We had our dog and obviously I never, ever thought this event would occur. We did have our own separate lives — this wasn’t the first time we have traveled separately. I just never thought this would have happened, that it would turn out the way it did.” She further asserted that Payne’s death still “doesn’t feel fully real” to her.
Cassidy further revealed that she learned about the One Direction singer’s death from a friend of his. She recalled, “I was in our home with our dog, scrolling TikTok and one of Liam’s friends called me. I didn’t believe it at first. I thought it was just a rumor. Or something that somebody made up just to get views. I feel like I just completely blacked out. When I officially found the news out to be true, I felt numb. I tried to call him.”
Praising Liam Payne’s personality and calling him her soulmate, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy also shared how life would now be difficult to navigate without him by her side. The couple was together for two years before the singer’s death in 2024.
