Andy, played by Eugene Cordero, was a prominent character in Tacoma FD‘s first three seasons. He won fans’ hearts through his unique charm and quirky demeanor. As such, fans were incredibly shocked when he did not appear in Season 4, the final season. They have since become curious about his absence in the last season.
So why was Eugene Cordero’s Andy a no-show in Tacoma FD after Season 3, and why did he leave before Season 4? Here is your question answered.
Why Eugene Cordero’s Andy wasn’t in Tacoma FD Season 4
The in-universe reason for why Eugene Cordero’s Andy left Tacoma FD before Season 4 was because he joined his uncle’s carpet company full-time. He was established in previous seasons to have been working there part-time.
However, the showrunners never gave an official reason for the actor’s departure from the show. Cordero also did not reveal why he left the show before Season 4. Despite this, fans had worked out a possible reason for the actor’s departure.
This likely reason is scheduling conflicts caused by Eugene Cordero’s participation in the Marvel Studios series Loki, where he played Casey, a TVA agent the eponymous protagonist meets after his first arrival at their headquarters. In Loki, Cordero’s Casey had a recurring role in Season 1, where he also played another character named Hunter K-5E before he was promoted to series regular in Season 2.
It is possible that his increased involvement in Season 2 caused Eugene Cordero to leave Tacoma FD. Filming for Loki’s second season reportedly took place between June and October 2022. Meanwhile, Tacoma FD Season 4 launched its production in August 2022 and concluded on that month itself.
Ultimately, Cordero’s career continued going strong despite his exit. The 46-year-old actor and comedian appeared in several other notable projects like Star Trek: Lower Decks.
All four seasons of Tacoma FD are currently streaming on Netflix.
