Bart Johnson apologizes for commenting on Blake Lively’s case
Bart Johnson, known for his role in High School Musical and Blake Lively’s brother-in-law, recently apologized for his vigorous defense of the Gossip Girl star in her ongoing legal dispute with actor Justin Baldoni. In December, Johnson took to social media to voice his support for Lively. This came after Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni, accusing him of misconduct during the filming of It Ends With Us. In a now-deleted comment, Johnson didn’t hold back. He called Baldoni a “fraud” and accused him of pretending to be a hero. He claimed Baldoni’s public persona was just a “costume” for self-promotion. Johnson also suggested that Baldoni had been deceiving his followers for years.
However, in a January 28 post, Johnson expressed regret over his approach to the situation. He took to social media and acknowledged that his comments were unkind and below his personal standards. He wrote on X, “If it’s my opinion, even if I’m trying to speak truth or stand up for someone, it’s never good. Even in times where it might ‘feel’ justified and doing the right thing, it makes no difference. There’s a better way.”
The controversy surrounding Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni escalated after the former filed a lawsuit in December. The lawsuit detailed how Baldoni’s alleged actions led to a smear campaign against her during the It Ends With Us press tour. Baldoni responded with a countersuit, accusing Blake of planning a smear campaign against him.
