After performing at the Donald Trump Crypto Ball celebrating his inauguration as president, Snoop Dogg found himself at the center of online backlash and criticism from fans. This fan criticism stems from the 53-year-old rapper and record producer’s perceived hypocrisy, as he had previously directed criticism against Trump.
Snoop Dogg has since responded to criticism of his Donald Trump Crypto Ball inauguration performance. Curious about how he handled it? Here is what you need to know.
Snoop Dogg addresses Trump Inauguration appearance criticism
Snoop Dogg recently uploaded an Instagram video where he was seen smoking a blunt and jamming to the song Ain’t No Need to Worry by The Winans.
“For all the hate I’m going to answer with love,” the rapper said towards the end of the video. He then bluntly told fans to focus on improving their lives and not to worry about his, affirming that he was still a “black man” and “100% black.”
Unfortunately, the video’s comments section was flooded with hateful and mocking comments. “Call your next album: Bootlickin,” one fan wrote.
“You got GOD, but you celebrated with devil,” another fan commented.
However, the Drop It Like It’s Hot rapper also found some supporters in his comments. “You’re real fans are still here, Snoop!,” one fan commented.
“Y’all can never make me hate snoop,” another fan wrote.
He also addressed the hate he was receiving in an appearance on the R&B Money Podcast. Here, he claimed he always dealt with it using “success and love.”
Snoop Dogg changed his opinion of Donald Trump last year after having previously been a vocal critic of the president in the years prior, where he once lambasted Trump supporters like Kanye West and got incredibly agitated in a DJ Suss One’s Sirius XM interview when the DJ noted that some of Snoop Dogg’s fans were pro-Trump. The rapper admitted his changed view of Trump in an interview with The Times. He stressed that he had “nothing but respect and love for Donald Trump.”
