Chicago Fire Season 13: Joe Cruz’s Fate Explained

After what transpired in Season 13 Episode 10, Chicago Fire fans are wondering whether Joe Cruz, portrayed by Joe Minoso, will be leaving the show. Previously, in Season 1, Cruz did the unthinkable of letting a gang leader, Flaco Rodrique, die in a burning building. Although he remained in guilt for several years, he wasn’t aware that his ruthless actions were witnessed by someone. That someone is his cousin and gang member, Junior, who has returned to threaten him. The recent development in Flaco’s case had many curious to know if Cruz’s exit is on the cards. So, here are the details.

Here’s the latest on Joe Minoso’s Cruz from Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 10

The recent episode, titled “Chaos Theory,” shows Junior threatening Cruz with revealing himself as a witness to his past ruthless action involving Flaco. He further persuades him to become his bodyguard for a stash house robbery. Helpless, Cruz agrees but their robbery goes awry with a gang shootout taking place, which leaves Junior dead. In a panic state, Cruz drives to Leon, who stitches his wounds and requests him to not inform the police about the incident. This is because going against a gang would be putting their families’ lives at risk.

On the other hand, Chief Pascal has already grown suspicious of Cruz’s behavior and has done the necessary digging, learning about Season 1’s fire. He summons Severide to investigate more and he manages to find out the truth. However, Severide stops Cruz from going to the police due to a lack of evidence. Later, a guilty Cruz confesses about his past crime relating to Flaco. However, he is set free of criminal charges as there was no evident proof to back his confessions but is suspended temporarily.

Joe Cruz’s future on Chicago Fire explained

As Cruz’s suspension is temporary, it could mean that he isn’t officially leaving and would be back to duty after his punishment ends.

Even after confessing about his offense, Cruz isn’t charged. Rather, he is suspended for two weeks without pay for “conduct unbecoming.” Cruz has disappointed Chief Pascal, who feels that a suspension is a suitable disciplinary measure for him currently.
