Prime Target: What Happens to Robert Mallinder in Episode 1?

Apple TV PlusPrime Target has premiered with its first two episodes and fans are eager to learn the fate of one of its characters Robert Mallinder. Helmed by Stephen Thompson, the story follows a highly intelligent math student named Edward Brooks who is researching prime numbers. His life dramatically changes when he finds himself at the center of a shady conspiracy.

In the episode, Professor Mallinder is shown to be under surveillance by a secret camera, both at the university and at his home. This same camera is also keeping an eye on professors from other locations like Athens and Zurich. He strikes up an acquaintance with Edward after they play a number game.

Edward and Mallinder then begin familiarizing themselves with one another more, after Mallinder invites Edward to dinner with him and his wife, Andrea. Mallinder is soon revealed to be working on a project. This is after he and Edward both see pictures of an underground site with strange markings and Edward writes an equation on the tablecloth, which is connected to the markings.

After Edward leaves, taking pictures of the underground markings with him to figure out the connection between them and his research on prime numbers, Mallinder begins working on the equation Edward left behind.

He later gets an ominous e-mail from a mysterious person called the Keeper. This person asks him why he is working on prime numbers. It is then revealed that Mallinder and Keeper had made an agreement. The agreement was that Mallinder would not try working on any thesis based on prime numbers.

The next day Mallinder is found dead in his car. At the same time, Edward goes to college and finds out that the database on prime numbers has been deleted. He also finds that Mallinder destroyed the tablecloth that contained the equation he wrote, and Edward’s research folder. Edward also finds that Mallinder left something resembling a suicide note on Andrea’s voicemail.
