Mark Zuckerberg Criticizes Apple’s ‘Random Rules’ & For Not Being ‘Innovative

The Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, recently ignited debates after questioning Apple’s creativity and accusing the brand of lacking innovation during his appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast. While he acknowledged the widespread impact of iPhones, Zuckerberg pointed out that Apple hasn’t introduced any groundbreaking product in decades. Plus, he slammed the brand for limiting advancements in new models, hampering its sales, and enforcing random rules.

Here’s what Zuckerberg exactly said.

Here’s what Mark Zuckerberg said about Apple on the Joe Rogan Podcast

Recently, Zuckerberg appeared in an episode of  Joe Rogan Experience, contributing to the conversations around tech giant, Apple. He initially praised iPhones for their worldwide influence, noting that everyone now had a phone, which “enables pretty amazing things.”

However, he also criticized the brand for its lack of innovative efforts in creating new things and implying unnecessary rules. “But on the other hand … they have used that platform to put in place a lot of rules that I think feel arbitrary and [I] feel like they haven’t really invented anything great in a while. It’s like Steve Jobs invented the iPhone, and now they’re just kind of sitting on it 20 years later,” he said on Joe Rogan podcast.

Additionally, Zuckerberg also went on to slam Apple’s business practices for attracting profits. He said that they make money by imposing a 30% tax on app developers and pushing individuals to purchase several products. Moreover, he reveals how Apple blocks third-party companies from making alternatives that can work with their brand’s products.

“You know, they build stuff like Air Pods, which are cool, but they’ve just thoroughly hamstrung the ability for anyone else to build something that can connect to the iPhone in the same way,” he elaborates.

While Apple claims to protect users’ security by maintaining strict rules, however, Zuckerberg argues that they need to fix their security and encryption rather than defend their products. He said, “It’s insecure because you didn’t build any security into it. And then now you’re using that as a justification for why only your product can connect in an easy way.” In addition, Zuckerberg also threw shade at Apple’s newly launched Vision Pro, which he feels didn’t live up to the market’s expectations.
