Here are all filming locations where Nosferatu was shot
Nosferatu was filmed in the following locations:
Corvin Castle in Hunedoara, Romania
Also known as Hunyadi or Hunedoara Castle, it is one of the Seven Wonders of Romania and one of Europe’s largest castles. Corvin Castle was used for the exterior shots of Count Orlok’s castle.
This castle, which served as a fortress and residence of Iancu de Hunedoara in the mid-14th century, boasts a Knights’ Hall, a Council Room, a chapel, a drawbridge, inner courtyards, and 50 rooms filled with medieval furniture and art.
Pernstejn Castle, Czech Republic
The Pernstejn Castle is situated in the Czech Republic’s South Moravian region and was founded between 1270 and 1285 by the lords of Medlov, who adopted the name Pernstejn.
The castle had the nickname “Marble Castle” due to the stone resembling marble framing of its doors and windows.
This location was used for the interior courtyard shots of Count Orlok’s castle. This was also the case for 1922’s Nosferatu.
Barrandov Studios, Prague
The Barrandov Studios in Prague was used to create the fictional German town of Wisborg for Nosferatu. The film’s crew commissioned sets inspired by real places in Germany and Romania for their appearance.
Barrandov Studios also has housed productions like Casino Royale and The Bourne Identity.
Invalidona Complex, Prague
Also known as Invalides or House of the Disabled, Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer built this Baroque building between 1731-37. This location housed people wounded from war and later became a museum and military archive.
Zamek Rozmital pod Tremsinem, Czech Republic
The Rozmital pod Tremsinem castle was built in the 13th century using Gothic architecture and was later rebuilt in the 16th century using the Renaissance style at the behest of Florian Gryspek.
