The popular soap opera Days of Our Lives has seen quite a few changes in the cast members this year, with fans wondering who is leaving the show. The series has not only introduced some fresh faces this year, including Alison Sweeney and Chandler Massey, but has also said its final goodbye to some fan favorites.

Brandon Barash as Stefan DiMera
Barash took over the role of Stefan DiMera in March 2019. DiMera is the son of Stefano DiMera and Vivian Alamain. The character was first introduced in the series in December 2017 and was previously portrayed by Tyler Christopher. His major storyline involved the conflict between him and his half-brother, Chad DiMera, over claiming their position in the DiMera Enterprises. Over the course of the series, he began a relationship with Gabi Hernandez.
Stefan bid adieu to Salem on October 28, 2024, following conflicts with Gabi and his mother, Vivian. Actor Brandon Barash revealed that his departure from the series was a surprise to him, stating he was still “in the middle of a contract” (via Soaps).
Drake Hogestyn as John Black
John Black was first introduced in Days of Our Lives in 1986 and eventually became a significant figure in Salem. Hogestyn played the role for four decades but had to say goodbye to Salem in 2024 due to his deteriorating health conditions. His final appearance on the show was on September 9, 2024. The beloved actor sadly passed away just three weeks later, on September 28, due to pancreatic cancer.
Bill Hayes as Doug Williams
Doug first entered the series in 1970 as an ex-convict and a con man. Eventually, he became a treasured member of Salem’s community. The beloved character has been a part of Days of Our Lives for over five decades but sadly had to bid adieu this year. Actor Bill Hayes passed away on January 12, 2024, and his final appearance in the show aired six months later, on July 11. The episode served as a heartfelt tribute to the great actor.
