As per Deadline, the reason behind this was complications arising from her recently diagnosed lung cancer.
Born on October 15, 1937, Lavin hailed from Portland, Maine. Her father David Joseph Lavin was a businessman while her mother was an opera singer. She has been performing on stage since the age of 5 and learned acting from HB Studio. Further, she was part of many theatre roles in the William and Mary Theater. Linda Lavin’s prominent stage works are A Family Affair, The Riot Act, and The Mad Show to name a few.
In 1967, Lavin made her acting debut with the television adaptation of Damn Yankees. This was followed by guest roles in shows like Kaz, The Nurses, Harry O, and Rhoda and a recurring appearance in Barney Miller.
Further, Linda Lavin rose to fame by playing the titular character in the hit series called Alice. She further featured in shows like Room for Two, Conrad Bloom, Sean Saves the World, and telefilms like The Morning After, Another Woman’s Child, My 100 Children, and numerous others.
In 1984, she made her big screen debut with the musical-comedy drama titled The Muppets Take Manhattan. Her other film credits include See You in the Morning, I Want to Go Home, and The Back-up Plan.
