Allu Arjun arrested after stampede incident
Allu Arjun was arrested by police authorities from his Hyderabad home after a case was filed against him. The arrest comes after an unfortunate incident that took place at the Sandhya theatre where his movie Pushpa 2 was playing.
On December 4, 2024, Arjun made an unannounced appearance at the theatre, surprising all the fans who were present there. Due to the actor’s massive popularity, fans stormed into the theatre which caused a stampede-like situation. Tragically, the chaos led to the death of a 35-year-old woman, identified as Revathi, and his son getting severely wounded. (via Deadline)
A clip showcased the actor cooperating with the officials after they arrived at his home. Arjun’s family members were also present at the time of his arrest.
The police authorities confirmed that the Sandhya Theatre management had no clue about Arjun’s visit. However, Arjun’s team claimed otherwise. The crowd allegedly went wild in the attempt to get a glimpse of the star and police had to intervene to contain them.
The Commissioner of Hyderabad Police said after the incident, “There was no intimation from the side of theatre management or actors’ team. The theatre management did not make any additional provisions regarding security to manage the crowd nor was there any separate entry or exit for the actors team though the theatre management had information about their arrival.” (via TOI)
Arjun was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt. However, in a recent update obtained by Hindustan Times, the victim’s husband gave a statement and asserted, “It’s not Allu Arjun’s fault that he visited the theatre that day. I am ready to withdraw my case.”
Following the incident, Allu Arjun also took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his condolences to the victim’s family.
