Amazon and MrBeast, AKA Jimmy Donaldson, are currently gearing up for the release of his reality game show, Beast Games, on Prime Video on December 19, 2024. The top YouTuber recently revealed how much it cost to make the city the series will take place in. This has intrigued many fans who wish to learn how much money went into the city’s development.
Here is what we have uncovered about the production cost for the set of Beast Games.
MrBeast reveals the cost of ‘Beast Games’ city
MrBeast revealed that Beast Games’ city, where participants compete and could reside, cost $14,000,000 to develop.
The YouTube star shared the same via a post on X (formerly Twitter). MrBeast first confirmed Beast Games, which he will host and executive produce, earlier this year. A teaser for the series dropped on November 25, followed by an official trailer on December 6. Beast Games will see 1000 contestants compete in a series of high-stakes challenges to win a grand $5 million cash prize.
In a statement via Amazon, MrBeast claimed his intentions in making the series were to “make the greatest show possible” and show how YouTubers and creators could find success on other platforms. “Amazon gave me the creative control I need to try and make it happen,” he added. “I hope to make the YouTube community proud.”
In an October 2024 episode of Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast (from the 7:27 mark), MrBeast also mentioned he spent over $100 million on the show. He stated that it cost $15 million to build a “walled-in city” for contestants to reside while they participated in the games. Jimmy also claimed he gave away $20 million, including the $5 million cash prize to contestants.
However, controversy has plagued Beast Games. A 50-page lawsuit was filed on September 16, 2024, by five unnamed participants of the show. They had alleged “chronic mistreatment” and “inhumane conditions” in the lawsuit. Moreover, at the end of filming, a crew member was hospitalized. This was after a 6×6 piece of a Beast Games tower fell on him, as per reporter Steven Asarch.
