Here’s Why Amy Adams Declined to Shoot a Song for SNL

The Lonely Island trio comprised of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer revealed in a recent podcast appearance with Seth Meyers that actress Amy Adams once declined their pitch for a Saturday Night Live (SNL) song themed after her movie Enchanted, back in 2008, when she’d hosted the show. This has naturally surprised several fans who are now curious to know the reason behind Adams’ decision.

So, let’s delve deep into why Amy Adams refused to shoot an Enchanted-themed song for SNL.

Reason why Amy Adams declined to shoot a song for SNL

Amy Adams declined to shoot an Enchanted song for SNL pitched by The Lonely Planet as it was sexually explicit in nature and she did not want to scar fans of the movie. On The Lonely Island & Seth Meyers podcast, Andy Samberg revealed that the pitched song would have been a duet featuring himself and Adams and that it was “very dirty”. Samberg mentioned that the track was about an old people couple, played by himself and Adams, with one of them getting stung by a scorpion.

“And then I’m dying or something and the one lament on my deathbed is that we didn’t explore things more se*ually in our life, and it’s this huge up anthem about that,” he said. Samberg shared in the podcast that although Adams rejected their pitch, she’d found it “really funny.” Additionally, he said that he realized Adams was right in refusing the pitch after he saw a mother and her daughter go up to Adams, adding the situation was “very instructive” for him.

Adams and Samberg eventually went on to work on Hero’s Song, an SNL Digital short that featured Samberg as a Batman-esque hero who attempts to stop a civilian, played by Adams, from getting robbed by a thief, portrayed by Jason Sudeikis. However, Samberg’s character ended up getting repeatedly punched in the face by Sudeikis’ character.
