Jude Law recently expressed feelings surrounding his first Marvel character Yon Rogg, who was the villain in 2019’s billion-dollar-grossing movie, Captain Marvel. Although it wasn’t much fancied by critics and fans, it still went on to become one of the highest-earning movies for Marvel Studios. Additionally, Captain Marvel served as the debut of Brie Larson in the MCU and was fairly well-rated on Rotten Tomatoes as well.
Jude Law expresses his regret over playing Captain Marvel’s Yon-Rogg
The actor recently graced the Variety Magazine cover and sat down for a chat with the outlet, discussing his upcoming series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
Amid this, the interviewer from Variety took the chance to question Jude Law about his work in the MCU as Yon Rogg in Captain Marvel. However, the actor appeared to have a sense of regret regarding the short appearance of his character.
Law looked back at the experience he had while working on the movie and said, “I don’t think there was much more they could get out of Yon-Rogg. That, for me, was the height of Marvel. It was a really good experience.” He expressed all the things he hoped for his Captain Marvel role and added, “I wish I’d been allowed to have a bit more fun with the part. I wanted him to be more arch. I wanted to lean into the humor more.”
Furthermore, Jude Law looked back on the shooting days for Yon Rogg and asserted how he had to attend stunt camps to have rehearsals for any fight scenes. In the 2019 movie, the Talented Mr. Ripley star was part of a big action scene with Larson.
Law stated, “Those suits are hard to move in because they’re thick rubber. You go to stunt camp for a couple of months, where you’re doing all these fight rehearsals and learning to do all this stuff. And then you put the suit on, and you go, ‘Oh! I can’t touch my toes! How am I going to do all that stuff with this thing on?’ You figure it out though.”
