The folks over at OK! Magazine have released a surprising statement stating they will publish their disastrous interview/photoshoot with Britney Spears without their usual sugarcoat. This is a first for OK!, a magazine that routinely paints celebrities in a positive light and go as far as to protect them from embarrassment. Britney Spears has broken that curse. TMZ reports:
In an exclusive statement to TMZ, OK! Editor-in-Chief Sarah Ivens said, “OK! Magazine spent a heartbreaking day with Britney Spears and witnessed first-hand an emotional cry for help that will leave you shocked and sad. This week, on newsstands Friday, the truth will be told.”…Britney had a complete and total meltdown during the interview and photo shoot. OK! was faced with a huge decision; to run the horrifying photos as is and risk ruining their relationship with Brit (and potentially her career), or run a sanitized — and untrue– article.”
Please keep in mind that Britney Spears called OK! herself and arranged this interview intending for it to be a “set the record straight” kind of thing. And this is what happened. Jesus, Britney had time to plan for this thing and it still ended up a complete mess. In two years, a government report will list the most likely victim of a hate crime as “Britney Spears fan.”
