If you’ve been here with Crave’s gaming team long enough, then you know a healthy chunk of our staff is completely nerdy for Batman. The comics, the flicks and, thank the heavens, now the games are all pieces of media we insatiably ingest.
Batman: Arkham Origins is the next piece of this fictional puzzle, and it’s an origin story to the Arkham line of games from Warner Bros. and Rocksteady. Batman’s back in Gotham, and we’ve gathered a few reasons why we can’t wait to experience this story.
What are you looking forward to in Batman: Arkham Origins?
3 Reasons We’re Excited for Batman: Arkham Origins
-
It's a snowy Christmas Eve
Oddly enough, the number one reason I personally can't wait for Arkham Origins comes from its setting. Christmas, snow, Gotham. Dark and dreary meet holiday cheer head-on here, and the developers have a chance to create unbelievable moments thanks to this.
Think back to some classic Batman stories and you'll find fantastic use of snow. Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's The Long Halloween has several stunning scenes that play out over the inaudible crunch of that white stuff. It's a great setting for the Caped Crusader, and I can't wait to see it employed here.

More of the same, in a good way
If you don't know by now, I might have some shocking news for you. Rocksteady, the studio that developed both Arkham City and Arkham Asylum, is not working on Arkham Origins. Warner Bros. Montreal is doing the development work here.
Of course, and these is a reason to be excited, we're expecting more of the same from the new studio. They won't create an identical campaign, and we wouldn't want them to, but they'll use the things that Rocksteady did so well to make this a great Batman.
Expect a return to form from combat, gadgetry and, hopefully, easter eggs. If all those things stay similar, this should be an awesome ride.

The Batcave
Of course. We're all nerds here, right? Then, at least temporarily, we were all bummed that a full blown Batcave was never represented in either Arkham Asylum or Arkham City. It's a nerd paradise, friends. Batman's hideout comes brimming with referential objects and secret gadgets.
Warner Bros. Montreal found a way to build Arkham Origins so that the Batcave is completely accessible. Yep, the Caped Crusader will be able to work from his hideout in this game, and that has us nerding way too hard.
