It was previously leaked, and now it’s official. Deus Ex is alive and well.
Deus Ex: Universe is the name of the upcoming releases for the series. Releases, you ask? Well, instead of it just being one title, it’s a calculated barrage of games that exist within the same universe. The very first concept art for said universe can be seen above which depicts an advanced society with deep social issues, particularly with class imbalance.
Eidos Montreal head David Anfossi described it as the following:
The concept behind Deus Ex: Universe is to create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games. It’s a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before.
Among the platforms that the games will arrive on are PS4 and Xbox One, as confirmed by Anfossi:
I’m pleased to confirm that we are already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-generation consoles. We’re very excited about it at the studio and I wanted to let you know that most of the team behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already working hard on this new game.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a fantastic game with a great sense of style. With much more powerful hardcore to utilize, which includes new visual and social potential, the series is has more potential than ever. You can thank the commercial success of the Human Revolution for Ubisoft planning future releases without hesitation.
