Australia’s best and brightest in the field of LOLS will be gathering together for a night of laughs in the name of charity. Gala 4 Gilbo aims to raise funds for beloved comedian Russell Gilbert who suffered a brain aneurysm followed by a stroke.
When we say the best and brightest, we really mean it. The line up is truly testament to how many lives were touched by Gilbo’s comedy stylings. Dave Hughes, Wil Anderson, Judith Lucy and the silver fox Shaun Micallef himself have all been confirmed alongside scores more.
ARIA award-winning musical comedy duo Scared Weird Little Guys will be breaking things up with some live music, there will also be appearances from Gilbo’s former Hey Hey, It’s Saturday mates Red Symons and Wilbur Wilde.
The event will be MC’d by Gilbo’s closest mate Mick Molloy, who says of the night, “Comics love an excuse to get together and have a few laughs, especially when it’s for a good cause and a good bloke like Gilbo. I think this night, for many reasons, will be one we all remember fondly, especially Russell, who’s been doing it tough for a while now.”
Since the tragic incident, Gilbo has been unable to return to work. Profits from the night will go towards his rehabilitation and to getting him back on his feet. Needles to say, Gilbo is stoked on the idea:
“It’s so great to know you have such amazing support from your friends. What a line-up of comics! The best in the country. And Mick as well.”
