Sinead O’Connor Cancels Edmonton And Regina Festival Shows

Controversial and politically-changed singer Sinead O’Connor, best-known for her mega-hit song “Nothing Compares,” has cancelled two Canadian shows – one at the Edmonton Folk Festival and another at Regina Folk Festival.

In a post of the Edmonton Folk Fest website, it said that the cancellations are part of a larger tour fallout where O’Connor has put the kibosh on all her summer dates. A reason was not given, however The Canadian Press is reporting that a statement from O’Connor’s agent says she “has been advised by the doctor to stop any activity and rest.”

“We are, naturally, disappointed that she is unable to perform,” organizers of Edmonton Folk Festival said.

The Wind and the Wave have also cancelled their scheduled appearance at this year’s Edmonton Folk Festival due to a conflict with their recording schedule.

Meanwhile the Regina Folk Festival published this on their website: “It is with saddened hearts that the Regina Folk Festival confirmed today that Sinead O’Connor has cancelled her performance scheduled for Sunday, August 9th, 2015. Due to exhaustion, Sinead has had to cancel upcoming concerts across Europe and North America, including Regina. ‘On behalf of all the RFF fans I want to extend my best wishes to Sinead for a speedy recovery. We are all disappointed that we won’t be able to experience the sight and sound of Sinead O’Connor at the 2015 festival,’ said Regina Folk Festival Artistic Director & CEO Sandra Butel. ‘However, her health is the most important thing. Fans can rest assured that I’m working hard to come up with a suitable plan B on such short notice.'”
