19-year-old Aussie and perennial Rubik’s Cube genius Feliks Zemdegs has taken out the Rubik’s Cube world title for the second straight year in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
As The Telegraph reports, Zemdegs solved a three-by-three Rubik’s Cube with an average speed of just 7.56 seconds. One of his attempts, however, clocked in at an amazing 5.695 seconds, which is just short of the 5.25 second world record which is currently held by American Collin Burns.
Speaking after winning the competition, Zemdegs played it pretty darn cool.
“The competition was really, really awesome, well run, the venue was really nice, all the people were really nice,” Zemdegs said.
“The win was also really nice as well. Because I won last time, I was less nervous this time because I had already won one so that helped a bit.”
Zemdegs’ mum, Rita, played it pretty cool too, telling NPR that it was “a crazy feeling” to see her son mobbed by fans asking for his autograph. “It’s hilarious. He doesn’t get much rest,” she added.
