The Canadian Grand Prix is happening this weekend in Montreal, and Lewis Hamilton has secured pole position in today’s big race.
That means that Mercedes AMGs will go head-to-head today on the track. However, after sliding on the rain on Friday and slightly damaging his car, fans of Hamilton were leery of how he’d qualify (but, in the end, had nothing to worry about).
“I don’t think it’s at all a statement,” said Hamilton to The Canadian Press about it being the fifth time Mercedes has been side-by-side at the starting line. “It’s definitely positive to come back into this weekend on the right foot. “But there are no points for (qualifying). There’s a big race that’s going to be challenging for us all with the tires and everything, but I feel I’m in a good position entering the race.”
There are also slews of events and parties happening in and around Montreal in celebration of race day. Crescent Street is still closed for the festivities, as is Peel Street and The Main (St. Laurent Street). And in the Old Port, from East to West, St-Paul Street will be the official F1 Foodie Zone from June 4 to 7. From 11am to 11pm., come by for brunch, lunch, cocktails, or dinner, and with BBQs, street entertainers, DJs, F1 cocktails, special menus, jet set packages and music, it’s sure to be a great time.
