For most people, turning into a robot would be damn near impossible. Slowly replacing each of your fleshy limbs with complex gyros and circuitry is a painstaking process, and after a while, you might start running into the limitations of modern science, especially once the brain gets involved. Fortunately for actor Shartlo Copley, he has a whole team of visual effects wizards turning him into a robot for him in Chappie, the new sci-fi thriller from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Neill Blomkamp (District 9). Chappie stars Sharlto Copley as a robot who becomes self-aware, threatening the natural order in South Africa. What’s more, he’s being raised by Ninja and Yo-Landi Visser from the rap-rave band Die Antwoord, who have taken up a life of crime in the near future and need Chappie to help them commit felonies. Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman wants Chappie dead, and waits for his opportunity to unleash the deadly Moose (which is also a robot, but not a self-aware one).
Chappie is now available on Digital HD, and arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on June 16, 2015.
