Watch Rick and Morty Crash Into The Simpsons

What would you do after you’ve murdered The Simpsons?

Well perhaps “murdered” is too strong of a word. But dead is still dead, right?

This Sunday’s season 26 finale of The Simpsons features a two and a half minute couch gag by guest animator Justin Roiland that acts as a crossover with Rick and Morty; an Adult Swim animated comedy series that was co-created by Roiland and Dan Harmon.

Rick Sanchez (Roiland) is a psychopathic, alcoholic mad scientist who shares madcap intergalactic and interdimensional adventures with his grandson, Morty Smith (also voiced by Roiland). But this time, Rick and Morty may have bitten off more than they can chew in Springfield.

“We are honored and blown away to be a part of The Simpsons,’” said Roiland in a statement. “If I could go back in time and tell myself that this would happen, I’d be like ‘No way, Jose!’ I simply can’t believe it. I think we might all be living in some kind of massive computer simulation to be honest. Look up simulation theory. That would explain how this happened.”

“This couch gag plays like a full-fledged mini-episode,” added Simpsons co-creator Matt Groening. “It’s going to be a real treat for fans of The Simpsons, fans of Rick and Morty, and fans of animated belching.”

The Simpsons will wrap up its season this Sunday, May 17. Rick and Morty Season 2 returns to Adult Swim on Sunday, July 26.
