Film to TV adaptations are becoming more frequent in Hollywood, with Rush Hour, Uncle Buck, and Minority Report among the new series coming next season.
CBS is taking a slightly different approach with its adaptation of Limitless. Like Fox’s Minority Report, Limitless acts as a sequel to the original film and maintains continuity with it. But only Limitless is bringing back the star of the film, Bradley Cooper to reprise his role.
It was announced earlier today that Cooper will recur on Limitless as Senator Edward Mora, the character that he originated in the Limitless film. And in the first trailer for the Limitless TV series, Mora gives off a more sinister tone as he recruits Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) to be the latest candidate to try NZT, the experimental drug which can give anyone super-enhanced brainpower.
The Limitless trailer also highlights the inevitable crime fighting angle that has been added to the premise, as Brian teams up with FBI Special Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter) to give the Feds a new asset.
Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb helmed the pilot episode of Limitless from a script by Craig Sweeny. Cooper and Sweeny are serving as executive producers on Limitless alongside Todd Phillips, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
Limitless will premiere this fall on CBS.
