Watch Jimmy Fallon Recoil In Horror After Trying Vegemite

Aussie kids are raised to develop an impressive tolerance for the black and salty yeast extract known as Vegemite, but America’s sweetheart and host of The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon, wasn’t lucky enough to have such an upbringing.

During a recent episode of The Tonight Show, the recurring ‘Kid Letters’ segment of the show saw Fallon read a note given to him from Aussie kids Charlie and Jed, who are seven and four years old.

In their letter, the kids say they think Fallon’s sidekick Steve Higgins should try Vegemite, “because he doesn’t really do anything”.

Higgins had never tried Vegemite before, but quickly lathered up a piece of toast with the American-owned Australian spread, and gave it a try. “I think it’s not for the American palate,” he said, before Fallon stepped up to the plate.

“It looks like Nutella gone bad,” Higgins said, as Fallon took his one painful mouthful. Fallon said the bite “wasn’t bad”, but his face face told a different story.

Watch the hilarity ensue at around 1:55 in the video below, and hope that maybe one day Fallon will have the courage to try Cadbury’s new Vegemite-flavoured chocolate
