Konami pulling P.T. from PSN has reportedly caused a license check issue that has seen PS4 owners’ entire game libraries being locked.
The issue has been brought to light by Nick Cramer who highlighted the problem in a series of tweets, revealing that after P.T. was pulled from the PlayStation Store by the publisher, his entire digital game library suddenly became inaccessible.

Cramer notes that the same issue took place when DriveClub was pulled from PSN, though that was only temporary. With P.T. having been removed from the PlayStation Store presumably forever, this may cause more complicated issues to a number of users who had previously downloaded the Silent Hills “playable teaser.”
“All of my games are locked, all of them,” Cramer wrote. “PSN checks all licences at once. if one does not exist on network, all DRM checks for PSN fail, so just checked, even deleting P.T. does not remove its license from your system. If you downloaded P.T. ever at any point, then you will be unable to renew licenses of your digital games.”
He continued: “For someone like me who owns mostly digital, this means that I cannot play any of my games. Konami is holding all of my games hostage. For the crime of having downloaded P.T.“
Cramer posted an image of him deleting P.T. from his PS4, though the games in his library remained locked. A NeoGAF thread has also seen PS4 owners complaining of the same issue, and while it was initially speculated that the problem could have arisen due to scheduled maintenance, libraries are continuing to remain locked even after the maintenance has taken place, with users also complaining that they were met with an error message whenever they attempt to install a new game.
Some users are noting that the problem can be fixed by activating the PS4 you’re using as your primary PS4 and then opting to restore the licenses, but this has yet to be confirmed. Sony has yet to release an official statement regarding the problem, though if it is due to maintenance, why on Earth would it revoke users’ licenses for games they own? Sony’s consoles have a long history of problems when it comes to the company performing work under the hood, with them always seeming to fall behind schedule, but if this problem is due to their scheduled maintenance then it’s certainly one of the most irritating issues to have yet presented itself.
