Robots All-Out Attack in New ‘Tomorrowland’ Trailer

Brad Bird’s sci-fi saga Tomorrowland comes out in just one month, and we still have no idea what it’s really about. Even this latest trailer manages to keep most of the mystery alive, showing more footage than ever before and even a kick-ass action sequence, without ever flat out telling audiences what the plot is.

Heck, even the official plot description is totally vague:

From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.

Featuring a screenplay by “Lost” writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen, “Tomorrowland” promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of.

Thanks to this trailer, we also know that Britt Robertson finds herself a nifty “Tomorrowland” pin, gets transported to a futuristic city populated by people wearing awesome jet packs, and goes to George Clooney to find out more. That’s when things get hairy in the, as our heroes are attacked by a gang of eerily chipper robots who apparently want them dead.

Then there’s a bathtub and a spaceship. We presume those things will make a little more sense when Tomorrowland comes out on May 22, or when an extended clip from Brad Bird’s film begins playing in front of IMAX screenings of Avengers: Age of Ultron when it premieres on May 1, 2015. (The clip will stay attached to Avengers: Age of Ultron throughout its IMAX run.)
