Last year, Warner Bros. announced that animation icon Bruce Timm would return for an all-new DC animated movie: Justice League: Gods and Monsters.
However, Gods and Monsters is unlike any Justice League that you’ve seen before. It isn’t even based on a comic. Gods and Monsters takes place in a much darker timeline in which Kal-El isn’t Superman. Instead, the Man of Steel is General Zod’s son.
Nor is Princess Diana this world’s Wonder Woman. That title belongs to Bekka of the New Gods. Even Bruce Wayne is out of the picture in this world, as Kirk Langstrom (Man-Bat in the comics) is the vampire Batman of DC’s trinity.
Justice League: Gods and Monsters was based on a story by Mike Carlin, with a script by Batman: The Animated Series producer Alan Burnett, with Sam Liu as the director. The first trailer has debuted online, and it hints at a dangerous plot to bring down the Justice League.

In the runup to Justice League: Gods and Monsters, Warner Bros. Animation will also be releasing a three part Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles on Machinima that will introduce fans to these alternate versions of DC’s greatest heroes.
DC and Warner Bros. Animation are releasing Justice League: Gods and Monsters this summer on DVD and Blu-ray.
