The Winnipeg Comedy Festival, which begins next week, will get started with the hilarious whines of comedian Jeremy Hotz, followed by performances by Jessica Holmes along with Shaun Majumder, amongst others.
Hotz, who is a huge draw at Just For Laughs and sold out his Canadian theater tour “What A Miserable Tour This Is….”, has performed in the United States, Europe and Australia, and he continues to grab audiences with his completely original and confused, yet very astute, observational comedy. Also on the schedule is Holmes, who has starred in five TV series including “Royal Canadian Air Farce” and “The Holmes Show,” and Majumder, a Gemini Award-winning actor/comedian who most recently played Andrew Palmer on the NBC/Global Television series “The Firm.”
“As the song says, ‘It’s a very good year,’” said WCF Artistic Director Al Rae in a press release. “Like a great vineyard, we have something for every taste and price range, so drink up the comedy – I’m sure you’ll be thirsty for more!”
Also on the bill are: Ryan Belleville, recipient of the Canadian Comedy Award and the Phil Hartman Award; Jonny Harris, a regular at The Halifax Comedy Festival, The Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and on CBC Radio’s “The Debaters” as well as Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival; Aisha Alfa, previous winner of Winnipeg’s Funniest Person with a Day Job; and Chad Anderson, a stand-up comedian based out of Winnipeg.
