Game of Thrones Season 4 wasn’t very kind to the Martells. Their beloved Prince Oberyn made a big splash in King’s Landing with his charges against the Lannisters… but he was killed in trial by combat with The Mountain.
In Game of Thrones Season 5, the Martells will react to the news of Oberyn’s death and take on a bigger role in the show than they’ve had before. Foremost among them are Tyene Sand (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers), Nym Sand (Jessica Henwick) and Obara Sand (Keisha Castle-Hughes).
Collectively known as the Sand Snakes, Tyene, Nym and Obara are the illegitimate daughters of Oberyn who are fierce warriors in their own right. And they’re looking to avenge their father’s demise.
HBO has released a new Game of Thrones Season 5 promo video in which Laurenti Sellers, Henwick and Castle-Hughes talk about their new characters and their deadly skills.
The fifth season of Game of Thrones will premiere on Sunday, April 12, only on HBO and HBO Now.
