This one has been a long time coming. After a disappointing reveal of Jason Voorhees as a member of Mortal Kombat X‘s Kombat Pack downloadable content offering, all the wind has been taken out of the sails of NetherRealm’s next announcement. By all appearances, Predator will be in Mortal Kombat X.
What was sure to be a big, surprising reveal, appears to be ruined after the Xbox store page for the Mortal Kombat X Premium edition, which comes bundled with the Kombat Pack says in its listing “Stalk and slash your opponents as Horror Icon Jason Voorhees, or play as Predator, the Ultimate Hunter.” See for yourself:
Predator is an odd fit for the Mortal Kombat series, but is an interesting one. He’ll blend right into the Mortal Kombat canon with the likes of Cyrax, Sektor and, of course, Cyber Sub Zero, the latter of which bares a striking resemblance. Unless this is an elaborate prank by a bored Microsoft employee, NetherRealm will have another announcement that we all saw coming.
The Kombat Pack is still a question mark, but that description makes it almost worth buying, bundled or otherwise. Mortal Kombat X will release for PC and next-gen consoles on April 14. Be sure to call in Arnold if you have any trouble.
