SXSW 2015: The Frontier – Oren Shai, Jocelin… by CraveOnline
It’s pulp. That’s probably the best way to describe The Frontier, a brand new 1970s throwback crime thriller, directed by Oren Shai and starring Jocelin Donahue (The House of the Devil) and Izabella Miko (Step Up All In). But how do you make a proper pulp 1970s crime movie in the modern day, and how do you keep it authentic?
Oren Shai, Jocelin Donahue and Izabella Miko stopped by the DailyMotion Lounge at SXSW to tell us all about The Frontier and the influences on their latest film, from the music to the costumes. Donahue describes her character as “the most evil” she’s ever played, and together they share an awful lot about the production of their movie.
The plot for The Frontier reads as follows: “Laine, a young woman on the run from the law, turns up at The Frontier, an isolated desert motel. She is offered a job by Luanne, the owner, and, hoping to lose herself in the obscurity of the place, accepts it. But soon Laine realizes she has stumbled into an even bigger and more dangerous situation.”
