Big Change Ahead For Score Of Star Wars: Rogue One

Star Wars: Rogue One is being directed, as you likely know by now, Gareth Edwards (Godzilla). What fans of the franchise may not have known until now is if John Williams would or would not be scoring this spinoff film.

It turns out that he won’t be. The man who did get the job, however, is Academy Award-winning composer Alexandre Desplat. You may have heard of him; Desplat recently won the aforementioned Oscar for the score he created for The Grand Budapest Hotel.

He’s also known for:

  • Unbroken
  • The Imitation Game
  • Godzilla
  • The Monuments Men
  • Argo
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2
  • The King’s Speech

As you can see, there’s quite the variety there which should assist Alexandre in perhaps whipping something up that’s fresh yet possibly familiar for long-time fans. Do you trust the new composer for the upcoming Star Wars offshoot to bring us that classic (or a new and improved) feel?

Thanks to Cinema Blend for the update on Rogue One production.
