Out of the fire and into the flames?
Former Chicago Fire star Lauren German has been cast in the female lead of Fox’s adaptation of Lucifer. Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book series written by Mike Carey and drawn by Peter Gross, Lucifer follows the original fallen angel after he gives up his kingdom in Hell while searching for new meaning in his existence.
For the potential Lucifer TV series on Fox, Californication creator Tom Kapinos has added a police procedural element to the show. This version of Lucifer apparently “gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.”

German is playing Chloe Dancer, “an LAPD homicide detective who finds herself both repulsed and fascinated by Lucifer. As they work together to solve a murder, Lucifer is struck by Chloe’s inherent goodness. Used to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer begins to wonder if there’s hope yet.”
Oh my God… they’ve turned Lucifer into Castle!
That’s some magic trick, Fox. It’s kind of insulting too. Hollywood always takes certain liberties with the properties that it adapts. But this is truly getting far away from the spirit and intent of the original source material.
Underworld director Len Wiseman is helming the pilot episode of Lucifer and it will compete for a slot on Fox’s Fall 2015 TV schedule.
