For any fans of The Flash who aren’t familiar with the source material, the constant references to a gorilla named Grodd must be puzzling. Believe it or not, Gorilla Grodd is one of The Flash’s greatest enemies in DC’s comic book universe. And he’s coming to The Flash TV series very soon.
Gorilla Grodd was created back in 1959 by John Broome and Carmine Infantino. In most of his incarnations, Grodd is a super intelligent telepathic gorilla who comes from a hidden city in Africa (called Gorilla City, of course) which is filled with gorillas who are also empowered and intelligent.

However, the Grodd of the world inhabited by TV’s latest Flash appears to be an ordinary gorilla who was experimented on by S.T.A.R. Labs and Harrison Wells. Grodd’s presence has been teased in many episodes before the recent ending of episode 12 depicted Grodd attacking two workers in the sewers.
The CW has released a new teaser trailer called “Grodd is Coming,” which seems to indicate that Grodd will be coming to the forefront of an episode of The Flash in the near future. And while it’s unclear if an actor will be providing Grodd’s voice, his telepathic powers are definitely hinted at here.
The Flash airs Tuesday nights on The CW.
