Cinemax Orders ‘Quarry’ TV Series

This summer, Cinemax’s flagship action series, “Strike Back” is coming to an end. But there’s already a new action series on the horizon.

Cinemax has announced that its adaptation of Max Allan Collin’s Quarry novels is going to series with an eight episode first season. The TV incarnation of “Quarry” was created by Graham Gordy & Michael D. Fuller, with “Banshee” veteran Greg Yaitanes and Steve Golin (“True Detective”) also attached as executive producers. Yaitanes is also slated to direct the pilot episode.

The orginal pilot order for “Quarry” was placed back in 2013. Collins’ first Quarry novel was published in 1976 and the fifteenth novel in that series was released last month.

Logan Marshall-Green will portray the lead character of Quarry, Mac Conway, “a Marine sniper who returns home to Memphis from Vietnam in 1972 and finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public.” While attempting to adjust to his new reality, Conway gets involved with “ a network of killing and corruption that spans the length of the Mississippi River.”

“Quarry” will begin production at the end of March, with filming to take place on location in New Orleans and Tennessee.
