Although “Gotham” was the lone bright spot on Fox’s otherwise slim Fall TV lineup, “Empire” has proven to be an immediate hit. Today at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, Fox renewed both shows for another season.
Fox Television Group chairmen and CEOS Dana Walden and Gary Newman made the announcement while also renewing the comedy series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” for a third season. Both “Gotham” and “Empire” will be entering their second seasons in the Fall 2015/Winter 2016 TV season.
“Bob’s Burgers,” “Family Guy” and “The Simpsons” were previously renewed for next season, while “Glee” creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk already scored a series commitment for “Scream Queens,” a new horror/comedy anthology.

However, the fate of “Bones” and “Sleepy Hollow” is still up in the air. Via The Hollywood Reporter, Walden and Newman noted that “Bones” stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz are in negotiations for another season. But the news isn’t as good for “Sleepy Hollow,” Walden indicated that “Sleepy Hollow” had become too serialized and that the creative team is currently reworking the show into a more episodic series.
Fox will announce its Fall 2015 schedule in May, but it sounds like “Sleepy Hollow” fans are going to have to make their voices heard to keep that series alive.
