“Hannibal” Season 3 will be adapting parts of Thomas Harris’ Hannibal novel. But apparently, Red Dragon is also on the menu.
TVLine is reporting that Richard Armitage has landed a major recurring role as Francis Dolarhyde in “Hannibal” Season 3. In the original Red Dragon novel, Dolarhyde was a serial killer who was known as “The Tooth Fairy” who targeted entire families for his slaughter. That was the case that forced Will Graham to consult with Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
Dolarhyde also had disturbingly sharp teeth and an obsession with William Blake’s painting The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed with the Sun. The character was previously portrayed by Tom Noonan in Manhunter and Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon.

According to the report, Armitage’s stint on “Hannibal” will be six episodes.
“Hannibal” Season 3 will premiere this spring on NBC.
