In the 37 years of Star Wars history, Princess Leia Organa has never had her own solo comic book series… until now.
Marvel is preparing to relaunch the Star Wars comic book franchise in 2015 with three currently announced projects: the ongoing Star Wars series in January, the Darth Vader miniseries in February, and finally, Princess Leia in March.
Mark Waid (Daredevil) and artist Terry Dodson (Avengers & X-Men: Axis) are the creative team of Star Wars: Princess Leia; which will take place immediately following the end of the original Star Wars film. In the aftermath of the rebellion’s greatest victory over the Empire, Leia is forced to deal with her grief for her family and her homeworld, Alderaan; which was destroyed by the Empire.
In this first look at Dodson’s interior pages from Princess Leia # 1, we see Luke and Han being honored by the rebels for their part in taking down the Death Star before Leia calls upon those present to remember the lives that were lost in the battle… and presumably on Alderaan as well.
Star Wars: Princess Leia # 1 will be released in March 2015.
