Amy Jo Johnson Is Open To a Role In The Power Rangers Movie

Earlier this week, Amy Jo Johnson made headlines for digging out her Pink Ranger costume from the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and performing a street concert as part of a pledge for her directorial debut, The Space Between.

Of the original “Power Rangers” cast members, Johnson has had very little to do with the franchise since she left her role as Kimberly Hart after three seasons. Johnson briefly reprised her role in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, but she moved on to more serious roles in “Felicity,” “Flashpoint” and “What About Brian” in addition to pursuing a music career.

But while speaking with The Verb (via No Pink Spandex), Johnson was asked if she would be willing to appear in the upcoming Power Rangers feature film. She replied “100 percent, I would do it. You know, it’s a movie, right? That sounds like so much fun.”

However, Johnson also tempered fan expectations by adding that “you have to understand why they may not have people from the real Power Rangers. I totally get it, because it will be a departure probably, and it’s going to be it’s own thing.”

When it was pointed out that she could possibly cameo in the film, Johnson exclaimed “Oh my God, I want a cameo! I so want a cameo! I’m gonna ask my agent to get on that.[laughs]”

If the recent headlines have proven anything, it’s that there’s still a large segment of fans who want to see Johnson as the Pink Ranger at least one more time. And she can still pull off the costume with ease.

The Power Rangers movie will premiere on July 22, 2016.
