Mind-Blowing Luchador Moves and Moments

Brought to you by El Rey Network’s Lucha Underground, airing Wednesdays 8PM ET/PT.

US audiences are privy to some pretty incredible professional sports and the feats of athleticism that take place within them. The NFL and the NBA have some freakishly gifted athletes who make the impossible look like a normal day at the office. But even with unlimited access to many international sports, most Americans still haven’t been exposed to lucha libre, professional Mexican wrestling, and they’re missing out on some high-flying, crazy sports action.

That’s why we’re all so excited that El Rey Network has launched its new show, Lucha Underground for American audiences. It gives you a much-needed look into the heart of a sport that you will immediately love.

Don’t believe me? Check out some of the craziest luchador moves you’ll ever see. These clips won’t only change your mind, but they’ll also get you geared up for Lucha Underground.

One of the most appealing aspects of Mexican wrestling is that luchadores are basically fearless. From taking huge hits in the ring to launching themselves sky-high and acrobatically tossing their opponent into the stands, there is nothing that these guys won’t do to pull off an awesome move. Don’t believe us? Check out this clip.

There is absolutely no better wrestling move than the one that ends with the opponent being thrown completely out of the ring. Add to that Mascarita Dorada spinning around his competitor like a flying murder-top and you might have one of the coolest feats of athleticism currently playing on Youtube.

This one is absolutely brutal. Trust us, the first few seconds of this clip will lull you into a false sense of security before Mascara Dorada gets absolutely demolished. It’s not pretty, but it is pretty damn badass.

Valiente is quite a large man. Like, 203 pounds large. So don’t take it lightly when we tell you that this clip literally shows him flying across the ring like an agitated bird. If you aren’t impressed by this clip, you obviously don’t understand how ridiculous it would be to see a gigantic man flying at you from above.

Super Astro is a pretty impressive luchador, but absolutely nothing tops that Tope Suicida. The amount of dexterity to pull it off is one thing, but the amount of pain that it must have inflicted. Yikes, just yikes.

And for our last clip, we’d like to offer you the 101 best aerial moves of Mexican wrestling history. Sit back and enjoy this hangtime-filled thrill ride of face pounding. And if this doesn’t convince you that Mexican wrestling has some of the most badass athletes in professional sports, we don’t know what will.

You can see more mind-blowing moments like the one below, Wednesdays at 8PM ET/PT on El Rey Network‘s Lucha Underground.
