Marvel Will Relaunch Uncanny Avengers In 2015

Avengers & X-Men: Axis has barely gotten started, but it seemingly marked the end of the Uncanny Avengers as Red Skull became Red Onslaught.

But this January, the Uncanny Avengers will be back with a new # 1. The story broke at ComicBook.com, where Marvel announced that writer Rick Remender and artist Daniel Acuna will kick off Uncanny Avengers # 1 post Axis with an almost completely new team.

Of the original members of the Avengers Unity Squad, only Rogue and Scarlet Witch will be on the new team. But Sabretooth will be filling the Wolverine role and Sam Wilson will be on the team as Captain America.

The other new additions include Quicksilver (Scarlet Witch’s brother), Vision (Scarlet Witch’s former husband who is also an android) and Brother Voodoo (the former Sorcerer Supreme who had better have a good explanation for why he isn’t dead anymore).

Marvel’s solicitation for the first issue suggests that the team’s newest enemy will be the High Evolutionary, who was last seen in the pages of New Warriors.

“From the ashes of AXIS an all-new, all different Avengers assemble! The tragedy at the end of AXIS has left the Uncanny Avengers vulnerable, and someone is taking advantage of it. One of the Avengers oldest foes returns with a terrible secret that will, all hyperbole aside, shatter the lives of two members of the squad. What is Counter-Earth? What terrible secrets does it house?”

While Uncanny Avengers vol 2 # 1 will launch early next year, all of the main characters are expected to show up in the Axis miniseries that leads into it.
