Dave Bautista Cast as New Bond Villain ‘Hinx’

Moonraker fans, get ready to feel ambivalent! James Bond fought a villain named Drax in the 1979 sci-fi movie. Now he’ll fight a villain who once played a different guy named Drax in a 2014 sci-fi movie. Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista has been tapped to play the new henchman “Hinx” in the still-untitled Bond 24.

Latino Review claims that Dave Bautista has

He certainly fits the description we were given six weeks ago:

Casting has begun for the main assassin, with the search specifically focussed on someone extremely physically fit and over 6′ 2″. Whoever wins the role will have several altercations with Daniel Craig’s 007 throughout the film and also a driving sequence. Former sports athletes will be under consideration along with anyone ‘very unusual’. The character has the working name of ‘Hinx’ (which may change before shooting starts) and is said to be between 30 and 45 years old… The goal is to find the next Jaws or Oddjob – a henchman so different to anything that has gone before that they will become instantly iconic in the film series.”

Dave is a former/current “sports athlete” (check), he’s extremely physically fit (double-check), he’s 6’6″ (triple-check) and he’s 45 years old (check-check-check-check).

What’s more, Dave Bautista has started to impress us with his screen presence and sense of humor, thanks to a scene-stealing turn in Guardians of the Galaxy. Bautista knows how to dominate a room when necessary and play to the ensemble cast when the scene calls for it.

Bond 24 begins production this December, which should give Dave Bautista more than enough time to finish filming before Guardians of the Galaxy 2 goes in front of the cameras. Bond 24 is scheduled to hit theaters on November 6, 2015. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is due in theaters on July 27, 2017.
